Lungo la sabbia e l'acqua dell'Adriatico, per il mosaico di terre in collina, verso la magia di pietra dei Sibillini, nel cuore antico dei paesi con le audioguide Travelcast Piceno
In the area of Amandola, one can enjoy bicycle rides or walks on long steets without much traffic. A lovely itinerary permits an ample view of Le Marche starting at the center of Amandola and continuing to the foot of Mount Amandola, where one comes across small and characteristic hamlets where people are still living. Leaving the town in the direction of Montefortino, near the cemetery, enter the street and turn right in the direction of Garulla.
The sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Ambro is in the territory of the town of Montefortino, but is easily reachable from Amandola. On the street that connects the two towns of the Sybilline Park, we come across a fork in the road that crossed the Tenna river. From here the street winds through woods full of beech trees in the heart of the park. The valley of the Ambro is enclosed between Monte Amandola and Monte Priora and closed off at the end by the Pizzo Tre Vescovi (Peak of the 3 bishops). Tradition has it that this sanctuary was built after the Madonna appeared to a shephardess named Santina. The girl, mute since birth, received the gift of speech from the Madonna.
The path of Via Indipendenza climbs from Piazza Risorgimento to Largo Leopardi, where it begins the descent that takes us quickly toward the historic center of town. Via Indipendenza is the main street of the original ancient town and walking along it brings us into contact with some of the most interesting elements of the traditions and culture of this place.
The entire area of Piazza Risorgimento bears witness to the radical transformation which occurred at the end of the 19th century, as a consequence of the reconstruction of the provincial road to Macerata.
In the MiddleAges, the area between Castel Leone and Marrubbione was called Platea Vallelunga and eventually became the center of village life. In this area, new religious and civic structures would be built close to the gateway of the town. Today, the ancient Vallelunga has taken the name “Piazza Risorgimento” and constitutes the main entrance to Amandola by both private and public means of transportation.
